Connected Operations & IoT

Connect assets. Understand operations. Automate action.

PEXIVA designs and delivers secure IoT solutions across devices, edge, cloud, data, AI, and enterprise applications—from opportunity assessment and PoC through production deployment and managed operations.

Turn physical assets and operational data into measurable improvements in uptime, energy use, asset visibility, process speed, safety, customer experience, and cost-to-serve.

Business outcomes

What connected operations should change.

Every engagement is scoped against an operational or commercial outcome — not against a device count.

  • Increase asset uptime
  • Improve operational visibility
  • Reduce energy and resource waste
  • Automate alerts and workflows
  • Strengthen safety and compliance
  • Create connected customer services

Outcomes are the goals an engagement is scoped against. Targets are agreed with you before kickoff and measured against your baseline — they are not guaranteed results.

Why connected initiatives stall

Ten problems we design around from day one.

Most IoT programs do not fail on technology. They fail on integration, security, cost, ownership and proof of value.

Pilots that never reach production

A proof of concept works on ten devices in one building, then stalls on security review, cost, support ownership or integration.

Disconnected devices and protocols

Equipment from different decades and vendors speaks Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet, MQTT or something proprietary — and nothing shares a data model.

Fragmented operational and enterprise data

Telemetry sits in historians and vendor portals while work orders, assets and customers live in ERP, EAM and CRM.

Unreliable connectivity

Remote sites, moving assets and congested plant networks drop data unless buffering and store-and-forward are designed in.

Security and device-identity gaps

Shared credentials, unpatched firmware and flat networks make every connected device a potential entry point.

Legacy PLC, SCADA and equipment integration

Valuable signals are locked in control systems that cannot be modified casually and must keep running.

Uncontrolled cloud and data costs

High-frequency telemetry, retained forever, quietly becomes one of the larger lines on the cloud bill.

Missing observability and support models

Nobody can say which devices are offline, why, or who is responsible for fixing them at 6 a.m. on a Sunday.

No clear ownership across IT and OT

Operations owns the equipment, IT owns the network and cloud, and the connected solution falls between them.

Difficulty proving business value

Without a baseline and an agreed KPI, a technically successful pilot still cannot win production funding.

Data flows left to right: devices and sensors produce signals; edge gateways translate, filter and buffer them; secure connectivity carries them to a cloud IoT platform that manages the fleet; streaming and data platforms store and govern the telemetry; AI, analytics and digital twins turn it into insight; and applications put that insight into operators’ and customers’ hands — including automated work orders in enterprise systems. Monitoring, security and cost governance apply to every layer, not just the cloud. Each layer shows who typically does the work.

Security and governance

Security is a lifecycle, not a checkbox.

An IoT solution is not secure because it runs on a major cloud platform. Cloud providers secure their infrastructure; the device fleet, its credentials, its update process and the networks it touches remain your responsibility — and ours, when we design and run it.

PEXIVA treats IoT security as a lifecycle discipline: from the questions asked before a device is purchased, through unique identity at provisioning and signed updates in the field, to revoking credentials and wiping data when the device is retired.

FAQ

Connected Operations & IoT — frequently asked questions

Can PEXIVA work with existing devices and legacy equipment?
Usually, yes. Most engagements start with equipment already in place. We read data from existing PLCs, SCADA systems, historians, meters and building systems through gateways and standard protocols, and we design so that control logic is not modified without your controls team. Some very old or closed equipment may need retrofit sensors, which we specify with partners.
Does PEXIVA provide hardware?
PEXIVA is not a hardware manufacturer or reseller. We help you select devices, sensors and gateways against your requirements and integrate them. Hardware supply, custom device design, embedded firmware and certification are delivered by qualified partners or by your preferred suppliers.
Which cloud platforms does PEXIVA support?
AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, plus open-source and hybrid patterns where data must stay on-premises. The recommendation is vendor-neutral and based on your existing estate, skills, cost model and requirements.
How does an IoT PoC move into production?
By designing for production from the start: success criteria agreed before the PoC begins, security and identity built in rather than added later, a realistic cost model at fleet scale, and named owners for support. Each PoC ends with a documented decision — proceed, change scope or stop.
How does PEXIVA secure connected devices?
Across the lifecycle: unique device identity, certificate-based authentication, encryption in transit and at rest, network segmentation, signed and staged updates, vulnerability management, monitoring and planned decommissioning. We align designs with recognized frameworks such as IEC 62443 and NIST IoT guidance; we do not claim certification on your behalf.
Can PEXIVA integrate IoT with ERP, CRM, EAM or CMMS platforms?
Yes. Integration is often where the value appears — for example, turning a condition alert into a prioritized work order, or linking a connected product to its customer record. We use the platforms’ supported APIs and event mechanisms.
Does PEXIVA support edge and intermittent-connectivity environments?
Yes. We design local buffering, store-and-forward, edge processing and safe offline behavior so that data is not lost and local operations continue when connectivity drops.
Can PEXIVA support multi-site deployments?
Yes, from an architecture, platform and program perspective. Site surveys, installation and local field services across many sites are delivered with specialist partners; how that is arranged is agreed per geography before rollout.
What is included in the IoT Opportunity Assessment?
A structured review of the business problem and target KPI, current devices and systems, connectivity, data, security and regulatory constraints, integration needs and operating model. You receive a prioritized use-case view, a high-level architecture and a recommended route from PoC to scale.
How are on-site installation and commissioning handled?
On-site installation, wiring, commissioning and field response are partner-enabled. PEXIVA defines the work packages, coordinates the specialists and owns overall program governance; the specialist performs the physical work under agreed safety, quality and service terms.
